Dear esteemed MFC members,
For your information, the government has gazetted a new ruling regarding the registration for timber industry players at MTIB which will take effect from January 1, 2024 onwards.
Under this new ruling, timber exporters, importers, suppliers, processors, jetty operator and graders are required to register their respective businesses with the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB).
The new rate of NEW registration fee will be RM 300.00 (Exporters, Importers, Suppliers, Processors, Jetty Operator) while the renewal fee will remain at the current RM 200.00 from January 1, 2024 onwards.
Certain current regulations such as the late penalty fee will be abolished however under this new ruling.
Please take note that certificate holders are forbidden to transfer, modify or forge their certificate of approval or else they will be liable to a fine not exceeding RM 100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 2 years or both.

马来西亚木材工业局于 2024 年 1 月 1 日起实施新注册条例
诚致全体 MFC 会员：
谨此通知，政府已在宪报公布一则关于木材业者在马来西亚木材工业局注册的新裁决，该裁决将于 2024 年1 月 1 日起生效。
根据这项新规定，木材出口商、进口商、供应商、加工商、码头运营商和分级商，必须向马来西亚木材工业局注册各自的业务。
新注册费用为马币 300 令吉（出口商、进口商、供应商、加工商、码头运营商）。而从 2024 年 1 月 1 日起，更新费则保持马币 200 令吉。
基于这项新规定，现有的规定如逾期罚款等，将被废除。
备注：持证者不得转让、修改或伪造其批准证书，否则将被处以不超过马币 10 万令吉的罚款，或不超过 2年的监禁，抑或两者兼施。
